Where to buy gildas and anchovies in Valencia's Mercado Central

At stalls 88 and 105 to 109 of the Mercado Central, the great modernist market in the historic centre, a few steps from the Silk Exchange (Lonja de la Seda). If you can't find us, ask any stall for SalazonArte or call us on +34 640 29 92 51.

What can I buy at the stall?

  • Gildas and banderillas made every day: the classic with pickled chilli pepper, olive and anchovy, plus other house combinations.
  • Cantabrian anchovies and boquerones (white anchovies).
  • Olives and pickles, our own and carefully selected: dressed olives, gordal, black olives, gherkins, pickled onions and mixed pickles.
  • Cured fish: mojama (salt-cured tuna), tuna roe and other cured roes, salt cod.
  • Tinned fish, olive oils, wines and vermouth to complete your aperitif.

Do you serve tourists and speak English?

Yes. Many of our customers come from outside Spain and we also serve you in English. We'll let you taste the olives and suggest what to take depending on whether you'll eat it straight away, at your hotel or at home.

Can I take gildas and anchovies with me when travelling?

They are products kept in the fridge. For the same day, ask us to pack them tightly closed. If you are flying home or travelling for several days, it is easier to order online and have it delivered to your home (see shipping below).
